Research

The archaeology faculty at the Department of Anthropology have long-standing interests in the complete range of sociopolitical complexity, including paleolithic populations; complex hunters/gatherers; the origins of early village life; the emergence and florescence of ancient cities and states; population movements; agricultural systems; Black Geographies, and colonial contacts. Faculty members maintain programs of field research, involving many students, in the American Southwest, the Caribbean, Tibet, Mongolia, India, Philippines, China, Taiwan, and Mexico.
